Found a beachfront accommodation and made enquiry. Good rate, good stay.

Day 2
Relaxing morning. Visited the aquarium at Prachuap. Slow drive to Chumpon.

Day 3
Destination - Isthmus of Kra. Rustic. Beautiful sunset from the corner stilt-unit - right above the sea water where fishermen would come crabbing very early in the morning (4-5am).

Day 4
Local reservoir with lots of fish. Again not many people at all.
Ranong town - with hotspring for public to use (feet soaking) for free.

Day 5
Lots of signages (resort) pointing to a right turn and so I decided to heed their advices.  Next thing we were on a ferry and checked into a beautiful island resort. That evening, a newfound friend took us our for dinner and it turned out the restaurant owner is Ahia Queng!! How wonderful!

Cambodia

Cambodia. One can only EXPERIENCE it. POVERTY. Children so poor that they will wait at the side of table and eat whatever food left by diners. Difficult to imagine. MAJESTIC. Angkor Wat n others. The Khmer kingdom had 1,000,000 people residing within the 4 walls when London only had 30,000! NATURAL WONDER. Tonle Sap fed by Mekon river which flows from the sea back into the lake 4 months a year swelling the lake from 1mtr to 10mtr deep. INCREDIBLE ADAPTABILITY. Real floating village, with floating restaurant, floating church, floating garden, floating pig sty EXOTIC FOOD. Very much like Thailand. Very yummy indeed. And ofcourse Cricket, Green bug, Spider.. Hmmmmm.. Wonder if I can find this in restaurant. "pong tea kon" (fertilised duck egg containing an embryo, like the Filipino balut). This one is yummier with bones. HOLLYWOOD-ish. This is "the Tomb Raider tree where Angelina Jolie picked a jasmine flowe before falling through the earth into Pinewood Studios" (Extracted from LP) Now you can see the "real face" of this tree. It is just so unfair that Angelina Jolie gets all the credit when it is this tree that does all the work.. (errrrr). One of the 4 towers in Angkor Wat. Rated 3S - Steep steps stair. Taken at a market. Near where the PhnomPenh-SiemReap bus stops. Check out the cute little fan. Interested to go? Just be prepared for the swarming touts shouting for your attention. No joke. Police has to use cane(!) and stun-gun to push the crowd back. Copyright TLLau

The 2005 Trip to Laos

The 2005 Trip to Laos... 650km from Bangkok to border. Stopped overnight half way. Having breakfast at KhonKhaen. Then arrived at border town NongKhai... staying in this 70-year old teak house. That's how we got to know about this guest house... This is a pic of our THB 280 guestroom at Nong Khai, border town to Laos. We had mosquito nets...cool Uncle Leigh is the owner and he has a cool bar, where we had American breakfast and juice and soya bean drink. The next day we entered Laos and spent a day at Vientiane At the Vientiane version of France's "Arc De Triumphe" a brighter version We took a tuk tuk there and back. very exhilirating! Mum wanted to try out something different for breakfast in Vientiane,so we found this colourful place opposite the morning market. very quiet. we were customer number 2 This is me, with Mekong as a backgrd. You'll never know what you see at Laos! Look who stopped fo petrol! This is the bus we took. We're travelling inland to Vang Vien, which papa says will be nice. it was a 3 hr ride thru the mountainside. At last, our 1st view of Vang Vien..... We got this place right infront of the river... Papa rented a motorbike...woohoo! Mummy sat at the back and I at the front, helping Papa to steer the bike.....no helmets! We had lunch at Nokeo, recommended by Lonely Planet. Food was so so, but the owners were friendly Afternoon view in front of our riverside hut. Papa and me walking in the river. Water was clear and cold The river was a beehive of local activity, men and women showered at different spots Morning view from our hut...... Born to be wild!!! We walked past wooden bridges Swirling waters but mummy's got me! The river was famous for this local activity called tubing...you sit in a tube and float downriver for 2-3 hrs! We climbed up the stairs, 140 steps (me and Papa only. Mummy was tired) up this limestone cave and took photos from up there This is what Vang Vien looks like from the highway We took a tuk tuk for 30mins from Vientiane back to Thai border Back at Nong Khai, Thailand, we roamed the streets for more food. Found this really crowded local eatery and had a nice dinner The next day, we stopped by this place called Ban Chiang, a World Heritage site cos they found people/stiff dating back to Bronze age here. They're famous for pottery There was an aunty opposite the museum selling really nice CAnto style noodles On the way back to Bangkok, papa stopped by the road stalls and bought these batlike things....... We had to stop at my fave place (and I suspect Mummy's as well) Chok Chai farm for ice cream Finally a souvenir from Laos as a memento. Copyright TLLau
